What Do You See? No. 3

An Impressive Keloid

A keloid is an exuberant overgrowth of granulation tissue in response to a skin injury; in the case below the injury was a second degree burn to the dorsum of the hand. The burn initially appeared to heal without complication but proceeded to rapidly develop the thick ropy scar nodules which severely limited finger motion. This keloid was excised and replaced with a large split thickness skin graft.
