We were misled by a third party as to the correct size needed. The one we ordered was too large. A pleasant conversation with a representative of the company and we received a return authorization number. We sent it back and promptly received the correct size. Great company to work with.
Product is well designed and has helped me. During the first 5 days of wearing the splint, it was uncomfortable being restricted in my thumb movement. But during that time, the swelling and inflammation in the CMC joint improved and I felt GREAT. The splint supports the joint well and does not allow you to sublux or damage the joint. Highly recommended! My mom is now ordering one too.
I love this brace! I work as a phlebotomist and I'm able to wear this under my small size gloves without any issues or without the gloves tearing! This is a really great device for people with osteoarthritis issues!
This is the second Push MetaGrip I have purchased. I left my first one at a hotel on vacation which bummed me out as I use this all the time. This by far is the best for thumb arthritis. I do not need a brace that goes all the way up my wrist. This stabilizes my thumb joint but still gives me flexibility and use of my wrist. I highly recommend this product.
Bought it for my wife who was suffering with pain in this joint of the thumb. She sorts letters and papers and there is no getting around it with her job. We got it and it was easy to shape to her thumb. She has used it for three days now and she doesn't complain about the pain anymore. It's expensive but its A LOT CHEAPER than surgery which was the next option. Well worth it as we were out of options. Very satisfied.
Got this for my Basel thumb arthritis and trying to learn guitar. I got it today and was able to practice twice as long with out any problems. Very surprised my hand doctor does not have these. You can actually use it for leverage instead of that soft sore spot on the inside of the thumb that tends to push on the neck, I can actually grab the neck of the guitar with out pain. It works. Thank you.
I have been wearing the Push MetaGrip on my left thumb for three years now and I just love it. Most of the time I don't even know it is on. It has really made a difference in the amount of pain of experience. If I don't wear it, I know it! The grip is easy to take care of and initially adjust. In addition, the customer support at Handlab is very responsive and wonderful.
The Push Metagrip has helped my CMC OA tremendously. I first heard about the Push from a musician friend, and I later learned that it's the top recommendation at the local hand therapy clinic. I do wish that it came in a more natural-looking color, and the dark grey color of the thermoplastic part is my only complaint. But even in that unattractive color, the Metagrip is less conspicuous than conventional braces. After months of constant use, it shows no signs of wear. Truly, the design of this device is ingenious. My quality of life has been greatly improved.
I read about this brace several years ago from a presentation at a Hand Surgery conference in Orlando. I am a RN who used to work for a hand surgeon. I ordered one immediately (I couldn't tolerate the brace my hand surgeon ordered for me, it was bulky and hard to put on!). It gave me such good relief and it was easy to use and clean. I took it with me to my next appointment and my doctor was so impressed, he had the office order some and got the information for his patients. Some of his staff were wearing them at my next visit. I have had people stop me and ask where I got this brace, everyone complained about the bulkiness of the other braces. This brace is awesome! Thanks!
Last time I went to see my hand Dr. we discussed surgery on my arthritic thumbs/wrists. I didn't like what I heard because I'm not a big fan of physical therapy and this type of surgery requires a fair amount. Anyway, my Dr. had been suggesting for several months that I purchase this particular brace. I had researched it but kept putting off purchasing because the are pricey, and I need 2. But in order to avoid surgery, I broke down and purchased 1, to try it out. WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS MONTHS AGO!!!!???? OMG'sh, what a difference! The brace prevents your thumb from moving into the directions that cause pain, without hindering you from most daily activities. So, a week later, I bought the 2nd one. If you are on the fence about this purchase, don't hesitate another hour. I even get mine wet and they're fine. I only wish they would make them skin colored. :)
As a hand therapist with CMC arthritis this is the first CMC support braces that I've found that allows me to use my hand with min to no increased pain. I have been recommend it to all my patients that have similar issues.
I have tried so many things to deal with my basal joint pain, nothing has worked, even the most expensive splints from the doctor didn't work. This, THIS works. It doesn't take all the pain away, but it makes it so much more manageable. The searing hot knife pain is gone. It's worth the price.
as a hand therapist I have to admit i was skeptical about not having my MP joint included but this does a great job of supporting my CMC due to inflammation and a bit of arthritis. I recommend this to my patients as well.
After initially being a little uncomfortable, it is now something that I can't do my job without! I solved the "getting used to" phase with some moleskin placed on the brace where it rubbed. After a week or so, it was comfortable. I work in a job that has constant repetition (letter carrier) and I find that this brace can be a useful tool. I use the hard part on my thumb padding to "push" boxes closed and it helps with other aspects of the job too. It is easily wiped clean with soapy cloth. The pain I had before has been greatly eased with the use of this brace!
I am wearing the New Push Thumb Brace and it is the best one they have made yet. I had previously worn a Push Thumb Brace but the new one fits quite a bit better than the older ones. It gives you a more positive fit and is more comfortable. Thank you.
This thumb brace has made it possible for me to garden again without ending the day in pain. I am ordering one for my left hand, as well.
I have worn MetaGrip for over a year. It is the one splint that consistently allows me to work with minimal to no thumb pain. I like the splint's low profile and the stability of the palmar bar - I believe this contributes to its effectiveness. A great splint that just works!
I have been using the Push Metagrip for my right thumb after many other types of braces, since a surgery 6 years ago for a very unusual cyst growing in my right palm which impinged on the heel of thumb, causing horrendous pain. Dr. Harold Bynum @ UNC Hospitals was my EXCELLENT Hand Surgeon. He had me fitted through UNC Hand Rehab for the Push MetaGrip 4 years ago. I love it!! I am a gardener, photographer, writer and Programs Director for a nonprofit Conservation Education Garden in Greensboro, NC (Cove Creek Gardens, Inc) and could not have continued to perform most of my work due to the extreme weakness and pain in this joint. Thank you for creating such amazing and lightweight Lifesavers!!
This has been the BEST brace for my basal thumb arthritis! I was facing surgery to relieve the pain I had at the base of my thumb. It was intense pain and was constant. I had cortisone shots in my thumbs, wore the soft braces the doctor prescribed and was at the point of saying okay lets do surgery, which I really did not want to do. Then I happened to come across this brace and decided to give it a try. WOW what a difference it made! I wore it all the time during the daytime and took it off at night to sleep. It stablized my CMC joint and allowed the swelling to go down, which decreased my pain. I have been using this brace for over a year and a half and I love them. I purchased one for my left hand to stablize it when I work with my hands doing something requiring a lot of grip of repetitive motion. They wash easily and dry quick. As it says on the description, the secret is in the squeeze.
I have been very pleased with the helpfulness of the brace. It has greatly increased my ability to do everyday tasks with less pain. As a piano teacher and player as well as a gardener, I rely on it daily, all day.
I am not sure whether to start with what an amazing CMS brace this is or the unmatched customer service afforded me. I have worn many thumb braces and some custom made as I work for a PT,CHT but never have I worn one that works as well to not only stabilize the thumb joint as the PUSH but also allows me to wear all day each day comfortably and complete all my tasks at hand which includes heavy data entry using that hand a good portion of each day added to household responsibilities. Also I would like to recognize their customer service as I was having an issue with Velcros bands attaching properly and it only took one phone call with the representative so sensitive to my needs and the promise to ship replacement same day and viola, I received two days after call. I would not hesitate to purchase any of their braces in the future and hope this is the first one you try, not the 8th one like myself. Thank you Handlab.................Sandy, Oklahoma City
I was diagnosed with basal joint arthritis, in both thumbs. My Dr. Sent me home with two huge black velcroed braces that went from the top of my knuckles, all the way up to my forearms, below the elbow. They did stabilize the thumb joint, but they were so constricting and "clunky" that I could not work well with them (I do computer tech support with much typing and equipment repair, moving and screwing cables, etc.) and the rigidity of the materials was giving me bruises on my arms. I found the Push Meta grip online, and have been using them a year now. Came to the site to order one for my husband. I saw other reviews and had to "chime-in"--Just putting them on makes my pain subside. And I love how they give support just where you need it, and the rest of your fingers (and ARMS!) can move freely. Love that they are easy to clean. I've recommended to family and colleagues--so very satisfied with product. Practically life changing!
I have moderate arthritis of my left thumb (carpometacarpal) and it is fairly easily treated with NSAID's, thumb exercises and thumb massage. My biggest problem is that I am a serious amateur pianist. Even with analgesics, I had been uncomfortable with certain passages at the piano, and the Mueller thumb brace was not helpful in that situation. The push metagrip thumb brace is beautifully designed, minimal in appearance and bulk, leaves the thumb free to move, and I'm very satisfied with it. I can play tiring music with this support. The only limitation at the piano so far is scale passages where there is some tucking of the thumb below the other fingers as one moves up or down. Current piano teaching tries to minimize that, but some is unavoidable. However, repeated thumb strikes as in repeated octaves are well handled by this brace. Ten years of thought and experiment went into the design of this brace, and I regard it as a terrific achievement.
I was given one of these by my Occupational hand therapist about a month ago - I underwent CMC joint replacement surgery 4 months ago. I'm still a bit sore, and this little brace really helps! It's small enough that I can wear it while biking, typing, anything really.
Couldn't even perform at my job. Told I needed surgery and injections were not working. Tried the push splint on recommendation of a hand specialist. I can perform my job, wash my hands with it on ,(I am a health care provider) and perform most of my daily activities. I love it. You have nothing to lose. Try it!!! You'll be glad you did. Thanks Handlab!!! Highest praises for the Push splint.
my husband bought this for me. i have osteoarthritis in my left thumb. after the first day of wearing it the pain has eased up. i can open things now. i couldnt even cook without tears in my eyes because it hurt so bad to stir things up. but now im able to do that. i could barely pick laundry up and put them in the washer or dryer. you are a god sent. thank you so much. the only complaint i have is the straps could have been made a little better. maybe more cushioned. i have to wear a piece of fabric underneath it to keep it from breaking me out because when i sweat i get red under them. but other than that good product.
I have suffered with CMC issues for over 10 years. I work for a physical therapy clinic and have been able to use ultrasound, paraffin baths, and ice massage, as needed, for my pain. The pain had gotten so bad a year ago that I finally sought out the expertise of a hand surgeon. He was SHOCKED when he saw my x-rays! He told me my thumb was "junk", and asked how I have been living with it this way for so long. He told me I was most definitely the poster girl for surgery. I was covering for 4 of our physical therapy clinics at that time and could not afford to lose the use of my left hand for any period of time. He told me he would "try" an injection, but would only do it under fluoroscopy, and that more than likely, it wouldn't work, but he was willing to try and buy me some time and hope for some relief. Needless to say, I have no joint space left. He poked my hand 5 times before finally being able to slip in, ever so slightly, on his 6th try. He couldn't even get enough of the medication pushed into the area to even be effective. Long story short, he told me I was most definitely going to need surgery in order to ever have any sort of relief or function back. The OT at my clinic made me a custom splint to wear to try and give me some relief and she said it would also be the splint I would use post-op. It was an extremely cumbersome piece to wear. It was rock hard and went from my knuckles on my entire hand almost to my elbow and didn't allow for any mobility at all. Worst of all, it really provided no relief to me in the least. I was supposed to have had my surgery in January, but switched jobs last July and did not want to take time off from my new job. I started researching anything and everything to do with CMC issues on the internet and came across an article where the PUSH Brace was mentioned. I then followed the yellow brick road which led me to Oz!!! I was hesitant at first, as I didn't want to spend the money on something that I was almost certain was most likely not going to work for me, but I kept going back to it and looking at it and reading about it. Needless to say, I bit the bullet and ordered one about 2 weeks ago. I AM AMAZED!! The EASE of fitting and using this brace is out of this world! It fits me SO comfortably, that it literally feels like part of my hand. I don't feel like I am wearing anything at all and I have complete mobility and usage of my left hand! I honestly have not had any pain since receiving this brace and using it on a daily basis. I have even been able to quit taking Ibuprofen on a daily basis! I have already sung the praises of the brace to literally everyone I know! And, working in the physical therapy industry, I am excited to be able to share my story with our patients and give them an alternative to surgery! I can't thank you enough for your wonderful product! Thank you for giving me my mobility, as well as my life back! This has literally been life-changing for me!
Horses and ranch life left me w/ arthritis both thumbs. Depression at being unable to do normal activities LIFTED with PUSH braces.
LOVE these braces !!! They let me ride my horse, manage chores, and manage normal household / personal daily tasks. My thumbs might be arthritic... but PUSH braces let me live as though my hands were almost normal ! Thank you Hand Lab for restoring my independence.
I cannot say enough about this wonderful brace. I am an avid golfer with severe arthritis in my thumbs. I usually play 4 times per week however when my arthritic thumbs deteriorated, I found I could not play at all. I had cortisone shots and tried several different braces with no improvement. Cortisone shots reduced the pain but not enough to return to golf. I decided to try the PUSH META GRIP. It has been a BLESSING to say the least. I can now play golf again. Wearing this brace, the pain disappears. It realigns the joint so that the two bones stop rubbing together and the pain disappears. I call it my 'miracle' brace because it has returned me to the game of golf. I wear it almost all the time now. I feel so fortunate to have it.
After searching the Web for a replacement for my aging Push thumb brace, I called Hand Lab directly to get more specific information on my model.
I spoke with Alex, a delightful representative who informed me that the specific model I wanted was not offered in the US. Instead of letting me search internationally, she told me she would send me specific information. Within a day of speaking to her, I found the full details and phone number of the companies she had mentioned on the phone.
I am so impressed by Alex's gentle kindness and assistance. She went above and beyond my expectations and for that caring effort, I applaud her and the fine company she represents.
Thank you, Alexandra. You deserve recognition.
I am a nurse, has worked great for me, thought I might have to quit working, Took pain away, injection doctor gave did not work for me. Thank you Handlab.
I am a retired occupational therapist with CMC pain in both thumbs and I was anxious to try the Push splint after it was recommended to me by a hand occupational therapist. I purchased a right and left Push splint 2 months ago after the pain in my thumbs got worse over the past year. I was concerned about causing more damage to my CMC joints. However, what concerned me even more was that I had lost a great deal of upper body strength due to the pain and my inactivity over the past year. I was to the point where I could not lift hardly anything, even items that were relatively lightweight and I could not open any containers. I wear my splints all day while working around the house and yard and have regained my strength and am able to do everything I could do several years ago. I am very Impressed!
I purchased the Push MetaGrip last February on advice of my doctor. I was planning on having surgery this coming January, but now I'm thinking I may not need to. When I'm wearing the Push MetaGrip, I am able to use my right hand and thumb with little or no pain. It really does the job.
I am so incredibly pleased with my purchase!! These push meta grip braces are the BEST!!! I bought one for each hand. They work so well at keeping my CMC joint immobilized. I am a phlebotomist and there are many ways I twist and turn my hands which caused that terrible pain. Now however, while I have my braces on, I do not feel that pain!! Gloves fit nicely over them and I can sanitize them easily. They also can be washed in the washing machine so I'm able to keep them clean. The fit is great too and they are very comfortable.
At first I didn't like wearing the brace, but as we all know this is a PAINFUL problem. The brace gives you the ability to move and do things that you could no longer do. Now I could not get by w/o it!! Well worth the investment.
This device has allowed me to work comfortably all day long doing the work of leaded glass panels. If anyone has done stained glass they know the strain of leading windows, as a 30 year artist, I can now get through the day without severe pain and swelling. I am back to buy one for my left hand as both hands are necessary for my craft. I can really work and use my hands with out any hindrance from the MetaGrip. Great product. Thanks!
I've been wearing MetaGrip braces on both hands for almost a year and they are great! They were referred by my ortho doc after using larger, bulky braces. They are so comfortable and really reduce pain that I often forget I am wearing them. The HandLab is great to work with as well. I had issues with the velcro on the first set I purchased and HandLab was quick to ensure that the braces were replaced with newer ones with better velcro. Their customer service is friendly, helpful and thorough!
This brace is the best thing ever for someone that has arthritis.
Not only is this brace really helping my hand, but the customer service is also fabulous! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the product or the company.
This helps my thumb immensely. If I don't wear it my whole hand hurts. This is a great product.
I agree with Chris' review: "The product is very good but could be improved upon by increasing the quality of the velcro straps. Mine have worn out and do not hold." Same for me. I bought some velcro but haven't sewn it on yet. The brace itself is awesome. My thumb pain has gone way down. I can tell a difference when I don't wear the brace. It DOES help. Thanks for keeping me from having surgery!
These add great support to my hands. The product is very good but could be improved upon by increasing the quality of the velcro straps. Mine have worn out and do not hold. I have worn my right hand grip off and on for about 4-5 months. Getting them wet at times ( from washing it and housework) may have contributed to them wearing out. I have made some adjustments to the one I wear the most(my right hand) currently so I can use it for gardening, etc., but am ordering another.I would suggest getting two in the future. One would be for housework and yard work, the other for when going about the rest of your day (driving, shopping, working). This way you can keep one looking clean and not "so worn" when out in public. Mine is getting a bit shabby looking. I would highly recommend this product. My hands feel supported and I am attempting to avoid hand surgery suggested by a hand surgeon as well as an orthopedic surgeon (whom I went to first). Thank you for your product!
I received and began using my Push MetaGrip 2 days ago. I purchased this because I was not able to do simple things like pull socks on or hold my coffee cup without pain. It's only been 2 days and I already notice a difference. I'm not pain free but, I hope after wearing the brace a little longer I will be. My only complaint is - there are 4 little vent(?) holes in the metal insert and it's not as smooth as it could be on the inside. I kept feeling something poking into my skin. I felt the inside of the brace with my fingers and it feels like a little bit of plastic wasn't smoothed out enough when it was made. I don't want to damage it but, I think I will have to get some super fine sandpaper and smooth it out.
Good splint for intended purpose. As a hand therapist, appreciate the thoughtful design and bio-mechanics. I use this this splint effectively for mod-heavy activities and for working-out with nice benefit. Because I am a very active user, I wish the straps were more durable or able to be replaced.
They are here!! My hand pain has gone from 5/10 to 2/10. I love that I can wear at work (wound care nurse) under gloves and easily sanitized. No more huge pain when cutting stiff dressings. Thanks so much for these!!!!!
After having several steroid injections, I decided to find a better solution to the painful joint at the base of my thumbs. I found the Handlab Push Metagrip brace on-line and decided to try same. After strapping the brace on, I went about my daily activities and to my delight found I could do most tasks painlessly. I can even wear the small brace under my golf glove and play painlessly (if not well). Might give it a try if you've been plagued by CMC arthritis (at the base of the thumb).
I wish to send a sincere thank you to the representatives at hand lab for having the Push Metagrip CMC thumb brace available in the US. I have tried at least 10 different thumb splints over the past 10 years and this one is the one that's really making a big difference in my life. At one time I thought that I was not going to be able to continue to work as a psychologist due to the extensive amount of typing I’m required to do. The thumb pain was so terrible to the point that I had to begin to consider no longer working in the field that I so love. Now that I have the push brace, I am able to type like I'm 22 years old again. Being that I’m in my mid 40's and my joint issue began in my 30's I’m so thank for that I have been able to purchase such a high quality item. I was actually diagnosed with osteoarthritis at the ripe age of 32 and ever since then I’ve had to struggle with sharp, grinding like pain. The issue began in my left hand and I completely over used my right hand so much that I now have the arthritis in my right thumb as well. Thankfully my left hand is in remission and now my right hand/thumb is the one that I am wearing the push brace on.
Again, I cannot say enough about this product. So, if you are considering getting one customers, please invest the money and get one, you will be ever so thankful.

I have arthritis in the base joint of my thumb. Have been using the PUSH brace for several years upon the recommendations of two different orthopedic doctors. One of them said her father had the thumb surgery and after his experience, recommended I use the brace as long as possible (her word - lifetime) instead of the surgery. Love the fact I can wash and sterilize it and it dries fast. Definitely durable - I have one for work as well as one that I use outside for working in my flowers. Without them, I would be in constant pain~
I have been using one of these for about 4 years and works great. I work in the construction industry and the work very well when wearing gloves. Easy to clean and durable I'm still using my first one but on its last leg and just received a new one from the doctors. The only problem I found was from sliding my gloves on and off it started to pull the cloth strap off where it is attached to the plastic. I just wrapped a piece of Duct tape around that area and problem solved.
I have EDS, and only recently understood just how my bendy thumb was contributing to my bi-lateral hand pain. I use the MetaGrip all the time now, and it helps with everyday activities as well as my work. I can type better with it on. And, more critically, I used the MetaGrip while on a pro photo shoot, and it literally transformed how I could do my job as a photographer. The MetaGrip was sturdy enough to keep the crippling, end-of-shoot pain at bay; it kept my thumb from bending all the way back due to the pressure of the hefty camera and lens. Meanwhile, the low-profile of the MetaGrip meant I could use the camera more easily than with the bulky, OT-fashioned equivalents; and, that same low-profile design means I can easily obfuscate the brace by wearing lacy fingerless gloves. Sure, I have a bit of an '80s-Madonna-era fashion vibe going, but in professional environments that beats showing off the bracing required to do your job. I already have two pair and plan to buy at least one more pair, so I can always a set at the ready, no matter what the task. I only wish I'd found these sooner.
I have been fitting my patient's with MetaGrip orthotics since they first became available. I work near hospitals and get referral for health care providers who have been unable to use other devices because of needing to glove over them. They all find get some relief from the devices and I have not had one returned because it was not effective. Recently I developed CMCJ pain myself and thought I would give it a try...and it has done wonders!!! Thank you Judy Colditz for inventing this amazing device!
This was recommended to me by my hand surgeon. I have been wearing it since mid May, 2015. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right thumb,, 2 sets of bone on bone, and 2 bones almost gone, due to a fall. I am a quilter and love to hand applique. This has helped stabilize my thumb so I can get on doing what I love. Something I will never be without, as I can't even write my name anymore without pain.
Wearing this brace allowed me to function normally, at work and play. I no longer had the sharp, stabbing pains in my hand/wrist/thumb. What a relief. My only regret is that it took me a year to find this brace.
This brace is the best and comfortable.
Both my hands are arthritic and these braces are great. I love that they are small, and that they can get wet and be washed.
This thumb brace has made it possible for me (69 year old female) to keep working at a job that I love. It gives me the support that I need to be able to do my job comfortably. Thank you for this wonderful product.
I could not work on a day to day basis without the metagrip. Thanks to a genetic predisposition, both of my hands are affected. I have several pairs and clean them often. They fit easily under gloves. Many of my patients have a similar need and are very satisfied with the metagrip. FYI, I have had surgery on one hand but still need the metagrip to relieve pain! Thank you!!
I am missing the cartilage at the basal joint of my left thumb, and can feel it going in my right hand. Needless to say, it can be quite painful. It even hurts to hold a book. Having tried many splints, I find that they are too bulky and restrictive. This is very low profile and comfortable to wear. I saw a occupational hand therapist and was very skeptical - she was wearing one of these and let me try it on. I couldn't believe it, it was like instant relief. I ordered one for the left and right hand that night. My hand measures 7" so size 1 is just right. I am amazed at the relief this has given me. I was afraid that at some point I would no longer be able to play the ukulele and guitar anymore because of this condition, but I can play these instruments while wearing the splint!! Had I not seen the hand therapist I would have never known about this incredible splint. Other than relieving the agonizing pain, this splint allows me full freedom of my hands! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who has pain at the base of the thumb, you will feel so much better!
I treated a 55 y/o female firefighter/paramedic with CMC OA that was in need of surgery and did not want to have the surgery. I fitted her with the metagrip and she loves it. It fits under her gloves, can be easily cleaned and she’s able to do her job with less pain and has avoided surgery at this time.
I have pretty much worn the MetaGrip every day since I bought it. Out of the box, even though I didn’t have it positioned exactly right, I had almost no pain. And I could DO things with my hand—carry a projector cart out of the closet and put it away, cook, read, get groceries—I no longer felt “disabled,” and this is so crucial. It gave me confidence in my hand as I adjusted to this new problem I hadn’t expected to develop. The brace allowed me to almost forget that I had this problem.
I recently had thumb joint surgery on my right hand. It helped, but there is still pain and the recuperation time will probably be a year.
I purchased a MetaGrip for my LEFT hand and now have no plan to get surgery. I work with my hands in my business constantly and had serious issues with both hands.
With my left hand no longer in pain, I can continue, with no 6 month downtime due to surgery
I have been wanting to play golf but my hand hurt so bad. The MetaGrip has allowed me to play golf! I love it!
I have had my MetaGrip for over 2 years now and love it. I had hand surgery where a bone was removed at wrist below thumb. I had to wear it all the time after surgery to protect my thumb. I wear it when I'm working in the yard, cleaning house and task where the thumb will be getting a workout. It hurts most of the time and the brace helps protect the thumb and keeps the thumb from hurting. The best investment ever.
I have been recommending the metagrip to my patients who cannot wear a custom orthosis due to their job requirements. However I really had no idea how supportive they were. I just had a lateral epicondylosis patient report immediate pain relief as I am finally able to perform an effective radial head mobilization while wearing my metagrips. Thank you for a great product and for helping my practice.
On the recommendation of my ortho doc, I purchased a MetaGrip to reduce the pain in my right thumb when golfing. I am pleased to say that while it is slightly restrictive in gripping the club, I am able to wear it under the glove and through the support of the basal joint in the thumb, pain is not longer a factor!
I have used the MetaGrip for about 4 months. I have not found anything that I cannot do with it on. The best thing is there is no pain. I have used four other types of thumb braces over the last several years. All of them do not eliminate the pain as good as the Metagrip. Thank you!
To determine the size Push® MetaGrip® your patient needs, use a soft measuring tape and measure the circumference of the hand just below the knuckles of all fingers except the thumb. Choose one of the three sizes below.
PLEASE NOTE: This measurement is only a guideline for determining size, as it cannot take into account the size/shape of the thumb. If the measurement is near the size break point, only trying on both sizes can allow determination of the best fit. It is recommended that therapists watch our Clinical Insights video for tips on sizing, fitting, and modifying the Push MetaGrip for your patients.
Since accurate sizing may require trying on the Push MetaGrip, BraceLab cannot be responsible if an ill-fitting size is ordered
The Push MetaGrip is not intended for all problems of the thumb. We recommend your patient be sized and fitted by a medical professional.

1. Before applying the Push MetaGrip to the patient's hand, gently bend the metal insert SLIGHTLY outward so the thenar area is somewhat larger.
2. Open the straps.
3. Slide the patient's fingers and thumb into the orthosis. Before closing the straps, be sure to push the Push MetaGrip as far down on the patient's thumb as possible.
4. Gently, but firmly close the straps. Do NOT pull them tightly.
5. Ask the patient to touch the thumb fingertip to the index fingertip, making a gentle “O” shape. Be sure the thumb muscles are relaxed and the MP and IP joints are slightly flexed.
6. Looking directly into the patient's palm, line up the metacarpal of the thumb so it is about a 10º to 20º angle from the index finger metacarpal. Be sure the thumb CMC joint is not too far across the palm in flexion) or too far in extension.
7. When the thumb is in the accurate position, squeeze the metal insert firmly so it snuggly fits around the relaxed thenar eminence.
8. Your patient is now ready to experience the comfort and durability of wear the Push MetaGrip during all normal activities including gardening, cooking, golfing, driving or even playing tennis.
NOTE: There will be some movement of the thumb CMC joint possible in the orthosis and the orthosis is not intended to cover the CMC joint.
