Product Overview

The Push MetaGrip provides a custom fit contoured to your hand for comfortable, all-day, pain-free wear.

Stabilize your thumb CMC joint with the Push MetaGrip so you can perform pinching and gripping motions with ease. By squeezing the brace’s embedded, contoured metal form you create a custom fit. The brace can be worn under a glove, resists abrasion and does not impede the movement of other joints. Latex-free, waterproof, and able to withstand heat, the brace is durable enough to be machine-washed on the gentle cycle and can be worn during a wide variety of activities.

Push MetaGrip is the ideal thumb brace for women and men to address:

  • Pain from arthritis at the thumb CMC joint
  • Instability of the thumb CMC joint
  • Post-operative care after thumb CMC surgery.

IMPORTANT: If you have thumb CMC osteoarthritis that has progressed to significant subluxation (a large bony bump at the base of your thumb), the MetaGrip will not be able to fit properly. Additionally, normal thumb muscle mass is required for ideal fit and function, so those lacking normal thumb muscle bulk may experience inadequate stabilization.

BraceLab Fit Guarantee

Our sizing chart is merely a guideline as thumbs vary in size. Sometimes you may need to try more than one brace size to find the proper fit. If your Push MetaGrip does not fit correctly, we offer free shipping on exchanges for a different size. PLEASE NOTE exchanges are only accepted on braces that have not been worn past the fitting stage and are in their original packaging. For more information, view our Return Policy.

Application Information

How to Fit the Push MetaGrip

To ensure the Push MetaGrip fits correctly, watch our video on how to properly apply the brace.

  1. Before putting on the Push MetaGrip for the first time, gently bend the metal insert SLIGHTLY outward so the thumb area is somewhat larger.
  2. Open the straps.
  3. Slide your fingers and thumb into the brace and push the brace as far down on your thumb as possible.
  4. Gently, but firmly, close the straps; do NOT pull them tightly. (See Figure 1.)
  5. Touch your thumb tip to your index fingertip, making a gentle “O” shape, but BE SURE your thumb muscles are relaxed, and the thumb joints are slightly flexed. (See Figure 2.)
  6. Check that your thumb is not too far across your palm or too far out of your palm, but in a mid-position.
  7. With your thumb in the mid-position and relaxed, squeeze the metal insert firmly so it snuggly fits around the muscles of your thumb. (See Figure 3.)

Brace Care

How to Care for the Push MetaGrip

Following the recommended care instructions can greatly extend the life of your Push MetaGrip brace and straps:

  • Keep the brace free of debris, especially the hook part of the straps.
  • Close all straps before washing; handwash or machine wash in a small mesh bag, using the gentle cycle, cool water, and mild detergents. Air dry.
  • NEVER place the Push MetaGrip into a clothes dryer or dishwasher.
  • DO NOT add bleach.
  • Over-tightening the straps will cause them to stretch over time and weaken the hook and loop closure.
  • Excessive application and removal of the Push MetaGrip and heavy, repeated resistive activities increases strap fatigue.
  • Wear gloves over the brace when working with harsh chemicals to minimize deterioration.

Please watch our video on how to care for your brace or print this downloadable PDF.
